Getting to Lexington

Lexington is situated in the Greater Boston area, which has excellent rail, air, and highway facilities.

Getting Here by Car

Lexington lies 11 miles northwest of Boston. Under light traffic conditions, assume 30 minutes travel time from the city.

Parking

Please note that metered parking on local streets and in parking lots is strictly enforced by a full-time parking control officer. At times, parking availability is limited in Lexington Center.

Parking lots within walking distance of the Battle Green include:

  • Metered parking off Waltham Street, one block from Massachusetts Avenue.
  • Metered parking behind stores on the north side of Massachusetts Avenue.
  • The attended Meriam Street Lot behind Depot Square.

Getting Here by Air

Logan Airport

Boston’s Logan International Airport is approximately 17 miles from Lexington Center. Depending on traffic and road conditions, driving time is about 45 minutes to reach Lexington. More >>

An alternative to driving to Logan Airport is Massport’s Logan Express, a bus service that runs frequently from the neighboring city of Woburn. The bus station is a short cab ride from Lexington. The Woburn facility offers a full-service terminal and secure parking. More >>

Getting Here by Public Transportation

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Service

Lexington is served by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), the regional rapid transit network that includes 4 subway lines, 13 commuter rail lines, 5 boat routes, and 161 bus routes. Service is provided to 52 communities in eastern Massachusetts. More >>

From Lexington, the MBTA bus connects at Alewife Station in Cambridge to the MBTA's Red Line train, serving Greater Boston.

MBTA bus routes #76 and #62 run to and from Alewife Station in Cambridge. Travel time one way is about 25 minutes. On both routes, buses run frequently during peak hours, traveling along Massachusetts Avenue and making stops in Lexington Center.

Amtrak provides service to both the North Station and South Station terminals in Boston. More >>
